A better home for Dinni Doll

For about a year, dinnidoll.com has been running on an Etsy Pattern hosted website. Pattern is Etsy’s own website builder and it did exactly what it promised.
The trouble is that a shop window is not a home, and I wanted a home for my artwork.
What I wasn’t able to do
I could not write anything longer than a product description. I could not show you the pieces that had already sold. I could not share random photos from my studio (or Fred) or explain why one wooden spoon takes the best part of a day to create.
Anyone who found me on Etsy, only found a list of things for sale. That’s not nothing, but it’s not really the point either. The point is that a real person made all these items, blood, sweat and tears went into most of these creations. My body pays the price, but it’s worth it and I love what I do.
So this is the new home
Same domain, same shop, new home.
The Etsy shop is still where purchases are processed, because Etsy is genuinely good at checkout and postage. Nothing about ordering changes.
What changes is everything around it. There is a gallery now, which also shows some of the pieces that I’ve sold. There is this blog, which is somewhere I can think out loud about a piece while I am still making it, type up my random musings, walk you through how I created something, or just share a cute photo of Fred.
There is now also a page where you can simply ask me something, and a page with all the social media platforms you can find me on.
The bit I want to say plainly
Everything here is made entirely by me. No AI and no shortcuts. When I say I burned that line into that spoon, I mean I sat at my desk with a hot iron and burned that line into that spoon, and yes, sometimes burned myself.
I am saying it here, on my own site because it is getting harder to tell the difference between what’s been created by a human, and what’s been AI generated. I make my art, not AI.
What’s coming
More spoons, because I have many more ideas. The large pyrography mandala that has been sitting on the desk since spring, some more art prints, and some decoupaged items. I’m also going to aim to write more of these, whenever I have something worth saying rather than just something to sell.
I will be posting photos, videos and potentially store discount vouchers on various social media channels in the near future. If you’re not already following me on social media please find all our social links here.
Thank you for being here and for looking at my creations, I will be creating a lot more!
It is a strange and rather lovely thing, finally having somewhere of my own to sell my creations and share my thoughts with the world.
