Short version: you buy from my Etsy shop, not from this website.

This site is where the work lives, where I write about making it, and where you can ask me things. It is not a shop. When you click through to buy something, you land on Etsy, and everything from that point on happens there.

Why it works that way

Etsy is genuinely good at the boring, important parts: taking payment securely, calculating postage, tracking parcels and sorting things out when something goes wrong. I am one person with a hot iron and a sewing machine. I would rather spend my hours making than rebuilding a checkout that already exists and works.

It also means your card details never come anywhere near this website, because I never see them at all.

What this means for you

  • Your order, your payment and your postage are handled by Etsy under Etsy’s terms.
  • Returns, refunds and any dispute go through Etsy’s process, which is on my shop’s policies.
  • Messages about an order are best sent through Etsy so everything stays in one place.
  • Anything else, including commissions, comes to me directly through the contact form.

Will this always be the case?

Possibly not. If it ever makes sense to take payment here directly, I will do it properly, say so clearly, and this page will be the first thing to change. Until then, Etsy is the checkout, and I am glad of it.
